The Hospital Bed

If you had watched Starting Over Again, you would know this scene:
Marco walks to a hospital room door bearing flowers in one hand. Comes inside and hands the flower to Ginny. Sits beside her, holds her hand and looks into her eyes. I can't remember the exact lines, but they are having their closure mpment. I want to google it but I don't have the energy. But let me write from what I remember.

That scene resembles that of how ex and I broke up. I was lying in a hospital bed, in a hospital gown and an IV bag connected to my right hand while he is sitting on the bedside.

Him, letting me go and me, really still lost and undecided. Just going with the flow. I admitted my mistake, asked for forgiveness which he gave and we mutually agreed to just end our two years of happy relationship. Happy, yes, it WAS a happy relationship until I got bored and screwed everything up.

In the movie, Ginny couldnt take the idea that Marco had became too happy and too contented with what life had been bringing him. He loves to cook but he said, he would only love to cook for people he loves.

Just like him, ex was so contented with how our lives were going on. Apart from being a Mama's boy which is something I had learned to live with, he seem to have no plans in the future at all. Or so I thought. Maybe I was wrong.

If there's one thing good I wish about our break up, it would be that I want to see the better version of him. Just like in the movie Ginny saying to Marco, "You are the Marco I had always wanted you to be." I am not sure if he is a better version now though. I don't have the courage yet and the right reason to know how he is and his current girlfriend are doing.

As for me, I'm way too far from what Ginny had become in the movie. But I hope to be as successful as she is in pursuing my plans. I just fear that I may have to give up love in exchange for that. Or maybe when I meet "love" in the future, I wish I can also say, "Your timing is just perfect."

    1. The ending of the movie was what I had expected it to be---find new love. Sabi nga din nila dun, the purpose of their meeting again is for closure "para mabuo ulit" at makapagsimula ulit. Them getting back together would have been ideal but in real life, it's nakakapraning. Kaya mas tamang magsimula ulit. After all, we can never unlearn how to love. Magmamahal at magmamahal ulit tayo, it comes on a perfect timing :D

  6. Ginny: "Sabihin mo sakin, How do I unloved you?"
Marco: “I don’t know. I can never unloved you. I’ll just love you in a different way now.”

Naiyak ako sa movie, ano pa kaya if the same thing happened sakin in real life. I commend your strength, hopefully makakahanap ka din ng tao masasabihan mo ng "your timing is just perfect..".

Kidding aside, do not put your mind and heart in pursuing your love. I am a good example. There should always be balance so date date ka pa rin kung may time. Meet people, not drink every weekend. Smile and always look great, even if you are stressed by the kiddielets. Will wait for the invites, lol!

  10. Nagde-date naman po ako Cher Jo. Last V-day nga, three sets pa.. One in the morning, then in the aftee then dinner-movie dates.. Haha.. Kaso walang pwedeng prospects dun :P
Have to look awesome as always, which at times mas nakakstress pa yun. Lol... Baka sa summer, ad part of the training team, woot! Who knows, baka andun sya. Hehe

  11. You know what? I just commented in a blog with an entry about this movie. Seriously? Is it really that good? I've always been a big not-fan of mainstream Filipino movies. Again, those freakin sponsors are so epaloids they really ruin the movie. And the stars there, goodness, they barely knew how to act (kung makapag comment sa acting akala mo veteran na no?)

Anyway, siguro you're both looking at life from a different perspective and both have different approach in facing life and relationships. Ganun naman madalas. Plus add the fact that we have different mindsets. When a message is conveyed to us, we interpret it differently. And there comes the confusion, the only common denominator. And confusion breeds fear, fear gives birth to frustrations and negative sentiments, all these negativity causes the mind to make a fatal and hurting decision, and bam! there you go! you both proceed in life in different paths.

    Belated Happy Valentines Day!

    1. Haha.i was told, ang ampalaya daw ay gulay at hindi lifestyle :P

Hmm.. I realized, rom-com movies are good. On top of fave ko talaga si Toni.. And it gave me a hyped feeling kasi uber relatable for me yung mga moments. Pero wala pa ding tatalo sa Lego Movie which I watched prior to SOA on that same day. Hehe... #adiklang

It's all about fear. Maybe if I was brave enough to fight back my own fears, things might have been different. But I have no regrets.
